ABOUT DSL's |
DSL's, or Digital Subscriber Lines, pipe data into your home or premises-- the larger the pipe, the more data. This sort of approach is practical if you want Internet or Intranet access, and don't care if your telephone voice services and data services are fully integrated.
Buffer is the DSL Dog. He likes to have a working knowledge of what's emerging so he can be well-informed and sound cool at the ice cream socials. He believes it's likely that IDSL will be one of the first DSL services available since it uses an ISDN infrastructure that can be implemented from existing equipment. HDSL has some real promise because it's been used by telephone carriers for years and is well understood, and, it's much faster then IDSL. While HDSL could be considered a contender for the future Internet, it's still a 4-wire service, and that could spell trouble for its residential use.
